BIO
The soft voiced, dynamic and sometimes flamboyant crossover artist blends characters and influences of folk, pop, indie and country, offering something distinctly unique in today’s industry.
Possessing a smooth lower range, Amber leans more towards a soft and breathy falsetto mirroring her middle voice.
Accompanied by her less refined and cut to the core lyrics as if sung directly after each painful moment, Amber has a way of writing to ignite personal and emotional intimacy.
Amber first discovered her love for music at age three when she would sing to her family at Christmas gatherings.
She picked up the guitar at thirteen and has been enthralled by the songs and lyrics of the likes of Jeff Buckley, Fleetwood Mac and Crowded House.
It’s not just these alt-rock classics that Amber admires; she also harbours a deep love for Country music’s own Norah Jones. "She has certainly been a large influence in my song writing, I used to listen to her debut album on my cassette player every night ”.
As a young aspiring singer, Amber would perform in local talent contests and finished as a finalist two years in a row.
She would be first to perform at local festivals around the town and would never turn down an opportunity to perform live for a large audience.
Amber was lucky enough to receive extensive vocal training by international Jazz icon and Indigenous trailblazer Wilma Reading.
“While the time I spent under Wilma’s tutelage was only relatively short, I have gained skills that I will cherish for life. She is an absolute inspiration to women in music and I am truly blessed to have been able to train under her at TAFE Music Faculty”.
Amber spent an extended amount of time touring Queensland and Northern Territory with a contemporary country artist and has since found herself sharing the stage with fellow artists at many festivals across Australia.
Some of her favourite performances have been Winton’s Way Out West Fest 2019, Kickstart Music Festival Yeppoon and North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Pre-game entertainment with a fellow independent artist in 2019.
Now, after spending the last year writing heartfelt and lively tracks, Amber McIntosh has released her long awaited first single “Painted Me Grey”.
The track features vocals and instrumentation from renowned Cairns based artist and performer Rebecca Langtree. It was written by Amber and produced by Rebecca Langtree and Amber.
Having grown up with her mother’s paintings filling the house, she admits to having a strong connection to art and prides herself in translating the beauty of pain and heartache from canvas into her song writing which is evident in her most recent release.
"I wanted this song to be the same. I wanted the listener to not only hear the heartache in my lyrics, I wanted them to see and feel it, like a
painting on the wall that captivates and moves you”
“Painted Me Grey” is available on iTunes and Spotify from 22nd November 2021.
